Located on a knoll of Capitol lake and the southern of Puget sound.There is a massive fountain in entrance of Capitol.The center of the "Capitol Group is the legislative building". Surrounding the Capitol are four similarly designed buildings induding the Temple of Justice. A fifth building was planned to the West, but never constructed as it would have required the removal of the Executive Mansion on that site.
Inside the building two statues, first was Marcus Whitman,a trained physician, the second symbolizes Mother Joseph who was responsible for the construction of many hospitals and other social service intuitions in the Northwest.
The reception room is on the third floor.There is a massive caved table in the center of the room.This room is used for formal state ceremonies, reception and meetings.The ceiling of the rotunda building.There is a huge bronze chandelier containing over 200 light bulbs. In the center of the floor is the seal of the state of Washington. Senate Chamber room, there are small flowers in the carpet: English dogwood or dog rose. The original desks are made of mahogany. In the House Chamber room, there the desks are constructed of walnut. Some flowers in the carpet represent the Pacific Rhododendron, our State flower. All the lights inside, along aisles are very beautiful.
Olympia was a small Capitol, but historic and spectacular. Washington:"The evergreen State. On November 11,1889, Washington became the 42nd state to enter the Union.It is the only state that is named for a president.Washington was nicknamed:The Evergreen State".
